Natalie Portman Is a Pop Star on the Edge in this Intense Trailer for ‘Vox Lux’
Get her Academy Award ready now.
Neon just released the first full-length trailer for director Brady Corbet’s new movie Vox Lux, starring Natalie Portman. One thing is clear: in playing this complex and disturbed character, the actress is going for broke as far as the Oscars are concerned.
The movie spans from 1999 to 2017, and follows Portman’s character Celeste, a school shooting victim who becomes an international pop star with the help of her sister Eleanor, played by Stacy Martin, and her manager, played by Jude Law.
After a controversial incident nearly causes her to fall from fame, she releases a comeback album titled “Vox Lux” and goes on a promotional tour.
Portman doesn’t actually show up until the second half of the film, as the first half focuses on a teenager Celeste, played by Raffey Cassidy.
The movie also stars Jennifer Ehle, Willem Dafoe, Maria Dizzia, and Christopher Abbott, and was both written and directed by Brady Corbet.
Vox Lux will open in select theaters on December 7th.
