A Sexist Internet Troll Attacked Sarah Silverman, And Her Surprising Response Has Gone Viral
“Your rage is thinly veiled pain.”
Sarah Silverman just set the gold standard for dealing with internet trolls.
The edgy comedian confronted a Twitter user who had arbitrarily responded to one of her tweets with the word “c*nt.” But instead of lashing out, she offered words of pure compassion.
Cunt

“I believe in you. I read ur timeline & I see what ur doing & your rage is thinly veiled pain. But u know that. I know this feeling,” she wrote. “Ps My back Fucking sux too. see what happens when u choose love. I see it in you.”

The stranger’s tone shifted drastically as he began to describe his tribulations to Silverman.
I can't choose love. A man that resembles Kevin spacey took that away when I was 8. I can't find peace if I could find that guy who ripped my body who stripped my innocence I'd kill him. He fucked me up and I'm poor so its hard to get help.

She continued to support the man throughout an exchange that spanned several tweets.
Good. I want to kill him too so I can’t imagine your rage. All I know is this rage- and even if you could kill him— it’s punishing yourself. And you don’t deserve punishment. You deserve support. Go to one of these support groups. You might meet ur best bros there.

I will go. But I trust no one I've been burned so many times. I'd give the shirt off my back and everytime I get burned. I'm super antisocial. I have no friends. I'm sorry I gave u shit.

Even after he apologized, the comic kept the dialogue open.
Dood I don’t care. I’m fine. I see something in you. My gut tells me you could have a great life. My shrink says we don’t get what we want, we get what we think we deserve. I’m telling you, you deserve so much more than you know.

Lol how?? And wut do u see?? Im jus confused how u can see that I can do better. I have multiple problems a big hole to crawl out of. And usually I choose not to express it or its hard to articulate my emotions

Haha honestly I don’t know. All you wrote was “cunt” but I saw it and clicked on u and saw you were just trying to get kicked off Twitter. I saw the rage and pain. And looked at your avatar and just… saw so much in you. In your eyes I guess. Dunno

The feel-good thread culminated when she asked her followers to recommend a spinal specialist in the San Antonio area. A healthcare group responded with news that they had contacted the man the next day.
Yo SAN ANTONIO! Any kickass back/neck care specialists willing 2 help my friend @jeremy_jamrozy He has several slipped discs, no insurance, & can’t work bc of severe pain. Let’s get him back on his feet!! Who’s in?

Hey Sarah, just to let you know we’ve been in contact with Jeremy. We’re on it! 🙂

Countless Twitter users lauded the stand-up for her kind response.

This is honestly one of the nicest and truly decent gestures I’ve ever seen a human being, much less a celebrity, give to another human being. Your heart and character are as big as your talent.

Love this exchange! Fight for your happy ending, Jeremy.
