In small-town Calera, Alabama, she was known to most as a pretty and youthful-looking 42-year-old named Kathleen West. Her Facebook said she was a “full time wife and mommy.” But West wasn’t just another put-together, small-town southern housewife. Online she was Kitty Kat West, a Marilyn Monroe-esque adult model with a thriving subscription page at OnlyFans.com.
On January 13, she was found dead in the street in front of her suburban home. She was and bleeding from her head and nude save a sports bra.

In a way, West became a part of a tragic pattern in the world of adult performers, even though she lived across the country from the center of the industry.
There has been a rash of entertainer deaths, especially in the last six months or so. They include adult performer August Ames, who committed suicide, Olivia Lua, who fell prey to issues with drugs and alcohol, and Olivia Nova, who died from unknown causes.

While West was an independent performer who catered to subscribers willing to pay her subscription fees, she was still putting herself out there on Twitter and a private Instagram. In her case it may have made her vulnerable to a predator.
A neighbor reportedly discovered West’s body. Her cellphone lay nearby along with a bottle of absinthe. Initially police seemed to treat the incident as a possible accident, a night of partying gone badly wrong. Now, AL.com reports police consider West’s death a homicide—but otherwise are revealing absolutely nothing about their investigation.
Inside Edition, as outlined in the video above, did obtain video of West shopping in a liquor store the night before her death, with “a man who looks like her husband.” That was where she bought the absinthe as well as whiskey. She appears to be having fun, as if she and the man are on a date.
Social media sleuths have been tearing into the case, but ultimately seem to only end up with the same suppositions anyone who has watched a true crime show might make. That she was killed by an obsessed fan, or perhaps her husband—who appeared to be fully aware of what she was doing—grew jealous or angry about it.
At the moment, no one really knows.
We do know that in addition to the stresses faced by the adult performers who have committed suicide or overdosed, there’s also the danger that one day someone angry, psychopathic, or both might come for them.
