Here’s Why Having More Sex Will Make You a Better Athlete

Turns out Ronda Rousey was right.

Remember back in 2012 when Ronda Rousey said she likes to have tons of sex before a fight to ramp up her performance?

Apparently, she was right. Having sex really does enhance physical performance! Maybe we should all just live our lives a la Ronda Rousey from now on. She obviously knows what’s up.

A new study from researchers at the University of Florence found that having sex before doing anything sporty simply makes you a better athlete, which is why you should totally ignore those who say otherwise, because they obviously don’t know what they’re talking about.

“Unless [sex] takes place less than two hours before, the evidence actually suggests sexual activity may have a beneficial effect on sports performance,” lead author Laura Stefani said.

But how does sex make you a better athlete? According to the study, it’s not because it makes you more muscular or anything. Having sex does burn calories and it does make you sweat and all, but that burning sensation you feel in your arms after a particularly vigorous boinking session? Not building muscle. Sorry.

Rather, it’s just like Rousey predicted four years ago! Sex boosts testosterone, which makes your inner Hulk peek through a little, thereby making you better at sports. And testosterone is some gooood shit. It’s the stuff that makes you horny, sexy, and a goddamn manly man. And it comes from your balls, so you should thank them for all they do for you.

However, keep in mind that this isn’t the case for everyone. Some people feel energized and strong after a romp in the hay, whereas others might feel like taking a nap and never getting out of bed again.

That’s why Stefani says “do what works for you. If you think your performance is better with [sex], then enjoy.”

That said, enjoy a nice quickie before your next sporting event. Or don’t. Whatever floats your boat.
