The 2019 Ford Ranger promises to be the best midsize pickup money can buy with regard to the things that matter most to truck owners.
The Motor City-based automaker just announced key specs that are sure to make gearheads swoon. It will have a best-in-class maximum payload (up to 1,860 pounds), best-in-class torque (310 pound-feet) and best-in-class gas engine towing capacity (up to 7,500 pounds).
As CNET notes, those accolades are made even more impressive when you consider that the Ranger beats out its V6-powered counterparts with a turbocharged 2.3-liter I4 engine.
Aside from doing what a pickup is designed to do better than the competition, the new model is also loaded with technology.
Its pre-collision assist feature can sense people, animals or other vehicles via radar and precharge the brakes to increase sensitivity. If no action is taken, the vehicle can stop automatically.
Autonomous detection capability is also present in its lane-keeping system—which can alert the driver to unintentional drifting—and its traffic-reading adaptive cruise control. Brake
Finally, the Ranger can become a Wi-Fi hotspot that can host 10 devices from up to 50 feet away when equipped with FordPass Connect.
If you’re in the market for a mid-size pickup with plenty of pluck, the 2019 Ranger is a pretty solid choice.
