BMW Brings Iconic 7-Series Into The Electric Age With New i7
BMW’s luxurious flagship sedan is now available with a 536-hp electric powertrain and a 32-inch Theater Screen in the roof.
BMW’s flagship 7 Series luxury sedan has entered a new electric era. The existing turbocharged inline-six and twin-turbo V8 powertrain options are joined by the all-electric xDrive60 in the i7.
Dual electric motors produce a total of 536 horsepower, with the 101.7 kWh battery pack providing around 300 miles of range. A DC fast-charging station can replenish 80 miles worth of juice in just 10 minutes, reports Car and Driver.
Just as much attention has been given to opulence as EV performance. The interior features plush seats with massage, heating and cooling functions.
A slick glass trim piece stretching across the door interiors and dash provides customizable ambient lighting, as well as touch controls for air vents and hazard lights. A melding of two 12.3-inch floating displays serves as both the infotainment center and gauge cluster.
There are also some baller options. The rear seats feature power-adjustable recline functions like a La-Z-Boy when equipped with the Executive Lounge package, while a Theater Screen upgrade hides a 31.3-inch touchscreen display in the roof, allowing passengers to enjoy Netflix, Hulu YouTube, or other streamable content on the car’s cellular data.
Starting at $120,295, the BMW i7 goes on sale in fall 2022.
