It is hard to believe that BMW’s radical carbon fiber hybrid-electric i8 supercar has been around long enough to receive a facelift, but that’s what’s in store for the October Paris Motor Show. Even better, the spinning propeller boys will pull the top off this beauty, just as they promised with the i8 Roadster concept back in 2012.

The Aussies at Motoring magazine further predict that the refreshed sheetmetal and available convertible top will cover upgraded gasoline and electric drive systems that are boosted by about 10 percent to around 395 total horsepower. Electric-only driving range will also be extended.

The concept Roadster was slightly shorter than the coupe, and featured a glass engine cover providing a glimpse of the engine bay with its futuristic components.

With looks like this, we can only wonder what possibly took BMW so long to loosen up and join the topless scene.
