Some of the day-after raving that followed the season 2 premiere of HBO’s mind-bending Westworld concerned the debut of awesome, murdered-out Delos Inc. dune buggies.

Does anyone know who made the Dune Buggies for the show?

Inquiries were posted to Reddit and Imgur regarding the mean machines’ manufacturer, and one user correctly identified the model as a Can-Am Maverick X3—specifically, the four-seater Max X RS Turbo R.

The only obvious difference is that the vehicles featured tearing up the sandy beaches of Westworld’s mysterious new park have beefier tires and no doors.

Can-Am

The entry-level Maverick X3 900 HO puts out a formidable 120 HP, but the top-of-the-line models featured in HBO’s hit sci-fi western squeeze an extra 52 horses out of the 900-cc Triple-cylinder engine courtesy of a turbocharger, as the name suggests.

This blasts the terrain-conquering toy to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. For comparison, that’s the exact same time as this V12-powered 2017 Mercedes AMG S 65 Cabriolet.

It’s also the first factory 72-inch wide side-by-side ever and offers 14 inches of ground clearance—way more than you’ll get out of any car with commensurate acceleration.

All of four Can-Am’s Maverick X3 Max Turbo models will run over $20,000. If you want to rip it up like Westworld stars, you’ll need to buck up $29,400 for the “RS.”
