Germans, beware! Cadillac has turned the final page in its transition into a 21st century luxury automaker. The CTS and ATS laid the groundwork for an exciting, brand-wide overhaul. With the XTS – Cadillac’s new flagship sedan, the transformation is complete. Like flagship Mercedes, Audis, and BMWs, the Cadillac offers a ridiculous amount of high-tech toys via its CUE system, including an incredible 14-speaker Bose system. Unlike the Germans, Cadillac does all this at a competitive price and with a cheerful disposition! Plus, gone are the days of dreary interiors. The new cabin caters to a younger audience of drivers who appreciate daring design. There’s colorful stitching! Accent lighting! We’re not sure if Grandpa would approve – but that’s a good thing.
Also gone are the large and thirsty V8s of the past, replaced with modern 3.6-liter, V6 engine with 304 hp that gets 17/28 mpg city/highway. The ride is extremely comfortable – even the backseats – so let your cousin call shotgun all he wants, and the car shines when cruising at highway speeds, between 60–70 mph. All in all, the XTS is a grown up, mature choice for those of us who love American cars, luxurious and spacious interiors, and whose wives won’t let us park a Camaro in the driveway.
