Yachts have really come a long way from the standard-issue big white boats of years past, incorporating design principles more common to luxury sports cars and even spacecraft. This is thanks in part to imaginative designers like Pierpaolo Lazzarini, who definitely is hitting a futuristic note with his design for the F33 Spaziale

We’re not sure if this craft should unmoor and float away or blast off like one of Elon Musk’s Falcon rockets.

Don’t get hung up on the looks, though. The most important thing to remember about the F33 Spaziale is it can be tricked out in any old way its owner’s heart desires. We’re talking a straight-up daytripper to a home away from home with full accommodations.

Whatever choice you make, under the hood it’s still a speedy, reliable ship.

The Spaziale measures 33 feet and the basic body is crafted from carbon fiber. As to the layout, the cabin area can be configured to include a sundeck for leisurely oceangoing sun worship. Add on a guest cabin and you’ve got a pleasure cruiser tailor-made for whatever adventures you can think of.

The freedom to customize the engine is one of the F33 Spaziale’s most exciting elements.

Options include 770hp twin Tesla electric engines or a pair of 880hp Yanmar diesel motors if you want more get-up-and-go. The Spaziale can cruise along anywhere from 35 to 55 knots—depending on the engine choice.

For that smooth catamaran glide, there are hull-mounted hydrofoils available. They also boost the speed—but those are simply another choice. Stick with a regular yachting experience if you want—it’s all up to you.

Prices will vary widely with the F33 Spaziale. The base begins at about $610,000 in U.S. dollars. It clicks up to $1.6 million for the Tesla-powered version with all the bells and whistles. Lazzarini estimates construction can take up to 9 months or more.
