“Lots of development work was put into this new RTR to make sure it’s the most dynamic and powerful RTR yet!” promised Gittin in an Instagram post showing the new car.

That means that the 2018 Mustang RTR will top the current 2017 model, which comes in three levels of performance, with the top SPEC 3 version rated at 670 horsepower, so the new machine could top 700 horsepower.

RTR boosts the Mustang’s output by adding a supercharger, intercooler and upgraded fuel injection system to the Ford small block 5.0-liter V8 engine.

RTR also adds 20-inch wheels and lowers the car for a more menacing look to match the more menacing sound of its high-performance exhaust system. Naturally, there are graphic stripes added and the LED lighting in the grille to help the RTR stand out from other hot Mustangs.

The 2017 RTR upgrade costs $20,995 on top of the purchase price of your new Mustang GT, but we’ll have to wait until SEMA to hear about the final price for 2018.
