Here’s A Sneak Peek At Ferrari’s First-Ever SUV
The Ferrari Purosangue super-SUV is coming later this year.
Ferrari will soon join the super-SUV space, and there’s now an official photo to prove it. The Italian automaker published a shadowy teaser photo that we’ve lightened below for clarity.
Road and Track notes that the first Ferrari ute, dubbed the Purosangue, gets the headlight design and shark-nose grille from the SF90 hybrid hypercar and F8 Tributo. It also looks identical in shape to the vehicle that appeared in leaked photos earlier this year:
Other details are scant, but the consensus is that Ferrari’s twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 will likely produce something around 700 horsepower. R&T posits that the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 from the new 296 GTB super-coupe is also a possibility, as is the 6.3- or 6.5-liter V12 from the GTC4Lusso and 812 Superfast.
Whatever the powerplant may be, the Purosangue will be immediately compared to the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, and Aston Martin DBX 707.
The Mercedes-AMG-powered Aston’s 697 horsepower and 193-mph top speed make it the world’s fastest and most powerful luxury SUV, a title that’s changed hands multiple times in the past few years.
Between the Purosangue’s unveiling in the coming months and the early, losing streak-breaking success of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team, this year looks like it’ll be a big one for Maranello.
