Indian Motorcycle Launches Limited-Edition ‘Super Hooligan’ FTR

Celebrating the FTR’s back-to-back Super Hooligan racing titles.

Indian’s raciest motorcycle is getting a limited-edition makeover befitting of its recent on-track triumphs.

With timelines that go back over 100 years, the Scout and Chief have the strongest heritages in Indian Motorcycle’s lineup, but the FTR is carving out its own legacy in this century.

Introduced in 2019 as a production version of championship-winning FTR750 flat track racer, the FTR has claimed 2022 and 2023 titles in the MotoAmerica-hosted Super Hooligan National Championship (SHNC), a series founded by customizer Roland Sands in which riders compete on naked “hooligan” bikes—750cc-plus twin-cylinder street bikes stripped of fairings and windshields, as RideApart notes.

The FTR’s prowess in the SHNC serves as inspiration for the latest FTR x RSD Super Hooligan, which was designed in conjunction with Sands and his Roland Sands Design brand.

“Far from the full fairing machines you normally see on the racetrack, a Super Hooligan bike has effortless attitude and a custom aesthetic with an exposed powertrain,” Sands said in a statement. “When Indian Motorcycle approached us to co-design an Indian FTR for consumers, it was a natural fit, and something we were very excited to be a part of.”

Based on the FTR’s superlative R Carbon trim, the motorsport-inspired bike features Super Hooligan graphics, race team sponsor logos on the rear seat cowl, and Indian’s No. 1 championship logo on the front and side number plates, as well as additional decals for the radiator shroud, front fender and front forks that can be applied at the owner’s discretion.

These graphics are paired with black metallic bodywork, a tank flanked with the classic Indian cursive script over a pearl white background, a red frame, and gold-accented red rims.

As with all FTRs, its core is a 1,203cc V-Twin that develops 123 horsepower and 87 pound-feet of torque. But it also retains all of the premium parts featured on the FTR R Carbon, including fully adjustable Öhlins inverted front forks and an Öhlins rear piggyback shock, dual-disc Brembo brakes, and Indian’s four-inch, Bluetooth-enabled Ride Command touchscreen featuring navigation and Rain, Standard and Sport ride modes.

Priced from $18,499 and limited to 300 examples, the Indian FTR x RSD Super Hooligan is now shipping to dealers across the country.
