When Jaguar introduced the C-X75 concept car at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, the plan was for it to become a technological showpiece for the company, using advanced internal combustion and hybrid-electric drive systems to deliver a Porsche 918-like experience years ahead of Stuttgart.
Financial realities intruded and the program was canceled. But the C-X75 lives again, revived as the pursuit car for Bond villain Hinx in the new movie SPECTRE. The C-X75 has worn the passage of time well and looks every bit the worthy challenger to Bond’s modified Aston Martin.
Befitting the car’s rebirth, Jaguar hosted a lavish coming-out bash the night after the opening of the Frankfurt Motor Show’s press day, with Hinx actor David Bautista and Moneypenny’s Naomie Harris on hand to meet and greet. Dry-iced champagne flowed freely and British singer John Newman performed for the crowd.
Jaguar dominated Frankfurt’s social scene at this year’s show, as the SPECTRE party followed the company’s loop-the-loop stunt the night before that debuted its new F-Pace crossover SUV.
SPECTRE is slated to hit theaters on October 26th in the UK and November 6th worldwide.
