Lamborghini Turns Up The Power With The 640-HP Huracán Performante

Seems the regular version is too slow.

There’s nothing wrong with a Lamborghini Huracán that you can’t fix with 30 more horsepower, a bit of carbon fiber bodywork, active aerodynamics and some reprogramming of the all-wheel drive system for optimum performance. Also, it was too quiet, so they’ve fixed that too in the new Huracán Performante.

The upgraded car set a new track record at the Nurburgring for production cars, lapping in 6:52.01. The carbon fiber bits help the Performante shed 88 lbs., and the 5.2-liter V10 engine’s output is up by 30 horsepower, to 640, and top speed is 202 mph.

Air ducts controlled by moveable flaps can activate to reduce drag at high speeds. In normal mode, the huge carbon fiber rear wing balloons rear downforce by an amazing 750 percent compared to a regular Huracan.

The higher-output engine is topped by a unique bronze-colored manifold to distinguish it from the regular engines in other slobs’ Huracans, and the exhaust is routed right out through the top, taking a cue from Lamborghini’s corporate cousin Ducati, whose motorcycles feature high-mounted exhaust systems. Now the Huracan’s fury dumps straight out the back of the car, perfect for burning the paint off tailgater’s cars.

In the cockpit, the Performante features alcantara fabric with optional ‘Y’ graphic lasered onto them.

U.S. pricing starts at $274,390 when the Performante hits dealers this year. You’ll want to trade in last year’s now-lame-by-comparison Huracán immediately.
