The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Makes Its Debut on an Italian Aircraft Carrier

Because, why not?

When Lamborghini first revealed images of its all-new drop-top $4.5 million supercar, the Veneno Roadster, we knew it was something special. Of course it’s fast – zero to 60 happens in 2.9 seconds, and it reaches a top speed of 221 – but there’s more to it than that. See, the Veneno Roadster is the flagship model of the world’s most iconic sports car manufacturer (sorry, Ferrari), so that means that it also has to have that elusive je ne sais quoi of absolute exclusivity. To that end, Lambo chose to unveil the beast in the playground of the rich and famous, Abu Dhabi, on – wait for it – a friggin’ aircraft carrier!

Yes, the celebration (which was very understated, we’re sure) took place this past Sunday on the flight deck of the Italian naval aircraft carrier Nave Cavour. A variety of luminaries, including famous Italian chefs, singers, politicians, and athletes, were present for the reveal. “We are honored that Lamborghini was chosen to represent the Italian car industry in the United Arab Emirates,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini’s always stylish CEO. “The Middle East is one of our largest markets in the world.” Considering you pretty much need to own an oil refinery to afford this car (which, by the way, Lambo is only making nine of), this makes a whole lot of sense.
