Lotus Tricks Out Its Elise 250 For Pure Luxury
Lotus will only outfit 50 of these classics in leather.
The Lotus Elise is one of the most responsive sports cars you’ll find, so when Lotus wanted to do something a little different, their solution was to go for a more luxurious appearance.
The Lotus Elise 250 Special Edition is the result, and Lotus says it will build only 50. The latest iteration of the beloved Elise wears a hand-finished carbon fiber rear wing, front splitter, engine cover and front storage cover. A carbon fiber hardtop roof panel is optional.
The Special Edition enjoys ultra-lightweight forged aluminum wheels in either silver or black finishes.
Paint colors include this metallic blue, plus red, yellow and white as the only choices.
Inside, the carbon fiber seats are wrapped in hand-stitched leather in either dark blue or dark gray, with contrasting stitching.
Mechanically, the Special Edition is unchanged from other Elise 250s, so it carries over the 243 horsepower supercharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission.
U.S. availability hasn’t been announced yet, but the car’s price in the UK equals $63,200. We think that sounds like a good excuse to fly to Britain to make the purchase with the Brexit-induced dollar-friendly exchange.
