Mercedes Goes All In With This 621-HP Open-Top Maybach G-Wagen
Holy crap.

Russian spies may be good for something after all, because Automail.ru apparently disregarded the embargo on the media introduction of the new Mercedes-Maybach G65 4×4² Landaulet in South Africa, posting photos and video of the new luxury barge on Instagram.

The opulently appointed former military truck features the 621-horsepower 6.0-liter Mercedes V12 engine seen in the Mercedes-AMG G65, but with the added feature of a folding fabric rear roof section that lets sunlight in to the back seat area. Mercedes is scheduled to officially unveil the vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Mercedes teased the Maybach G-Wagen with a photo posted to social media earlier that hinted to an open top.
As with the Maybach 62 Landaulet announced previously, anticipate a price north of $400,000. If that doesn’t make you want to bungee jerry cans of water onto it for a foray into the Serengeti, nothing will.
