Boutique California car builder Saleen Automotive has announced that it will not only revive production of its legendary mid-engine S7 supercar, but this new Saleen S7 LM version will be pumped up to 1,000 horsepower thanks to a twin-turbocharged version of its 7.0-liter V8.

Only seven of the exotics will be built, exclusively in silver-and-black livery. They will also enjoys wheels and interior appointments that are unique from the original S7s. Road & Track magazine reported a top speed of 250 mph for that car in 2006, when its engine was rated at “just” 750 horsepower, so this new one will be faster still.

“True to our form, we are bringing back America’s only true supercar,” pledged president and CEO Steve Saleen. “We are celebrating our winning heritage and advancing the performance DNA that Saleen was built around.”

That winning heritage includes victories for race-prepared versions of the S7 at tracks such as the Nurburgring, Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans. Pricing is upon request, just so you know what to expect if you’re aiming to be one of the lucky seven.
