There are yachts, and then there are yachts. At a whopping 377 feet, the Tuhura is definitely an example of the latter.
The stunningly large luxury vessel is a concept from Oceanco—the same visionary design firm conjured the Stiletto superyacht. Its canoe-like shape harkens back to tried-and-true designs of ancient times.
“Our Tuhura is a simple idea,” said Oceanco designer Igor Lobanov. “The thought was to take a natural shape similar to those seen in the earliest canoe-type craft and augment it multifold to a larger scale, using modern technology.”
A unique contra-rotating propulsion system pushes the Tuhura along at 20 mph. That leisurely speed is actually a blessing, as you’ll want to spend as much time as possible enjoying its luxe interior.
Italian architect Achille Salvagni masterfully incorporated East Asian elements of brushed teak and natural bronze into clean, modern spaces.
The hull has been conceived with multiple horizontal windows, constructed from a glass technology composed of a series of dots. Views can be enjoyed from the inside, but the windows’ exterior treatment gives them the same color as the hull, disguising their appearance from onlookers.
It’d take assets from a billionaire’s bank account to actually commission one of these things. Dare to dream in the gallery above.
