If any modern supercar is deserving of fetishistic treatment, it’s the Porsche 918 Spyder. So it’s no wonder the luxe new coffee table tome about the $845,000–plus hybrid beast from Germany’s Delius Klasing is actually three books in one.

There is a “picture book” filled with opulent images from all the development phases of the 918 Spyder from the brilliant Stefan Bogner; a “story book” that tells the thrilling tale of this car, which marks one of the decisive turning points in Porsche history; and finally a “fact book” filled with all the stats you could ever need.
The “story book” comes from the keyboard of journalist Jürgen Pander from Hamburg who takes the reader on a journey behind the otherwise strictly closed doors of the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach and onto an array of race tracks and proving grounds around the world.
