This Classic Custom Porsche 911 Carrera Is Now Up for Grabs
A masterfully modded Porsche 911 Carrera could be yours.
Vintage vehicle dealer Bring a Trailer is selling a striking yellow 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera that’s been expertly customized into a truly one-of-a-kind machine.
The 3.2-liter flat-six-powered Porsche 911 Carrera, first introduced in 1984, represents the last evolution of the iconic German sports car’s original series before it was revamped as the 964. This particular example’s provenance shows that it lived in Texas and California before RWB Los Angeles tuner Akira Nakai got busy with some major modifications.
An RWB widebody kit was installed with an elongated hood, larger fender flares, and a rear decklid with a ducktail spoiler. The sunroof, passenger-side mirror, and passenger-side windshield wiper were all deleted, and the fuel filler was relocated to the interior of the front trunk. Paint-matched Carrera script was added to both sides, and RAUH-Welt graphics were applied to the ducktail spoiler and upper windshield. The G50 five-speed manual transmission was also equipped with Jenvey Dynamics individual throttle bodies.
The most striking feature of the job, which is somewhat of an acquired taste, is the liberal use of Yellow tartan on the fixed back sport seats, RS-style door panels, side panels, and dashboard. The cockpit also boasts a 917-style wood shift knob, Rennline floor boards and pedals, and a WEVO short-throw shifter.
Elsewhere, additional modifications include drilled door handles, rubber latches for the front trunk and engine lid, chrome window trim, pop-out vent and rear quarter windows, Euro-style taillight lenses, and H4 headlights. Everything rides on Fikse 17-inch Fuchs-style wheels wrapped in Sumitomo HTR tires.
In 2018, all brake calipers, rotors, pads, lines and mounting hardware was replaced. The odometer shows just under 4,400 miles, but pre-conversion mileage is unknown. The current bid for the RWB-Backdated 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe is set at $60,000. Head to Bring a Trailer’s website to learn more or make an offer before the auction ends on March 4.
