The Plymouth Barracuda cuts a legendary figure in muscle car history, which is one reason fans are excited by the prospect of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles resurrecting the model in the near future.

The car’s menacing lines are a perfect match for the Hemi power underhood, which makes the ‘Cuda a perfect candidate for customization by a shop like Foose Design. In fact, Chip Foose pronounces this build, ‘Terracuda,’ the best Mopar to roll out of his garage yet.

Terracuda’s root-beer brown base color with gold stripes and wheels was inspired by its owner’s Breitling watch, which featured a similar color scheme.

Those Foose started with a stock unibody 1970 Barracuda, the shop rolled a custom-built Art Morrison frame beneath it, including C5 Corvette front suspension and a Ford 9-inch differential. Setting a unibody chassis atop a ladder frame sounds like a recipe for a truck-like stance, but in hot rodder fashion, Foose channeled the body, sliding the frame rails into the resulting slots and welding the two together for maximum rigidity.

That’s a one-off custom steel hood stretching over the 485-horsepower 392 Hemi crate engine.

Foose discarded the back seat, turning the Terracuda into a two-seater swaddled in Ferrari leather upholstery.

With its modern power and handling upgrades, Terracuda’s cockpit sounds like a great place to cover the miles.
