The Final Bugatti Chiron Is A Brilliant Blue Farewell

Bugatti bids goodbye to a 1,578-horsepower legend.

The reveal of this dazzling black and yellow Bugatti Chiron inspired hope that a few more one-off imaginings of the contemporary supercar icon would arrive before its eight-year reign comes to an end.

Well, we’re only getting one—and it’s sure to generate nostalgic tears to the eyes of Chiron superfans. The Bugatti Chiron L’Ultimae’s blue finish pays tribute to the very first Chiron that debuted as the world’s fastest and most powerful production vehicle in 2016.

For the final Chiron variant, Bugatti flipped the first’s color scheme so the darker French Racing Blue covers the front and graduates into the brighter Atlantic Blue in the back. The faded area between these two core colors features hand-scribed names of locations and events that hosted the Chiron’s landmark moments, including Monaco, Le Mans, and Ehra-Lessien, where the Chiron Super Sport 300+ became the first production car to break the 300-mph barrier.

The Chiron L’Ultimae is the 500th of its kind, so a manuscript “500” appears on the side of the rear panel, the wheel caps, the rear wing, and the engine cover that houses the quad-turbo, 8.0-liter W16 engine. As Road and Track notes, this bespoke Chiron is based on the apex Super Sport, which produces 1,578 horsepower and 1,160 pound-feet of torque.

An example-exclusive Bugatti macaron further delineates L’Ultimae as it sits proudly within the Atlantic Blue grille, which features a horseshoe mesh pattern that recalls the unmistakable C-Shape featured on either side of the hypercar’s body. A particularly patriotic touch appears on the side mirrors, which wear the French-flag’s tricolor.

The interior is similarly thoughtful in design thanks to the combo of hand-cut and hand-stitched Deep Blue leather, Blue Carbon Matt finishes, and drizzles of the exterior’s French Racing Blue.

“With this bespoke work of art, we have retraced the Chiron’s majestic eight-year journey with unforgettable moments that have taken place throughout the world, creating legions of fans for the Chiron, not to mention its countless industry-first breakthroughs and unique world-first achievements,” said Bugatti president Christophe Piochon.

“This 500th and final Chiron model is a fitting farewell that captures a defining legacy that will forever be etched in automotive history and paves the way to a bright new chapter, starting with the production of the Bolide and the W16 Mistral and continuing with the unveiling of our new model in June.” We’ll be waiting eagerly.
