This Graffitied Ferrari 812 Competizione Is A One-Of-A-Kind Supercar
The uniquely artistic Italian exotic can now be yours.
The Ferrari 812 Competizione is likely Maranello’s last purely gas-powered model, as the marque transitions to a hybrid era. That fact, combined with some extraordinary, almost graffiti-like finishes from Ferrari’s bespoke Tailor Made division, should push bids through the hardtop when this totally one-of-a-kind example heads to auction in October.
Drawing inspiration from the yellow cards on which Ferrari Chief Design Officer Flavio Manzoni and his team sketch nascent lines and ideas, the car was rendered in matte “Giallo Tristrato” yellow. That base color served as a literal canvas for the hand-tracing of key components in a black “Nero DS Sketch” hue.
Some of the highlighted components are more specific to the 812 Competizione, including rear’s vortex generators and the carbon fiber blade that divides the front hood, acting as an air intake for the engine below. Given that the 812 Competizione will be the last Prancing Horse powered purely by a V12, the team also traced the louvres, an element that has been present on 12-pot Prancing Horses dating all the way back to the 50s-era 250 GT Competizione.
The tracing concept continues inside, where a new generation of recycled yellow Alcantara first presented on the Ferrari Purosangue SUV is embellished with blueprint-like drawings and designer signatures. Completing the elegant interior trim is the black trilobal Superfabric carpet, which also clads the rear wall of the passenger compartment.
It’s all a very elegant and entirely unique way to showcase what makes the 812 Competizione so great: the engine. As Car and Driver notes, 6.5-liter V-12 shrieks all the way up to 9,500 rpm and develops 819 peak horsepower. The “V12 to end all V12s,” as the outlet puts it, is equipped with titanium connecting rods, a lighter crankshaft, a new cylinder head with finger-follower actuated valves, and diamond-like carbon coating on several surfaces to reduce friction.
The Ferrari Tailor Made 812 Competizione hits the auction block at the Ferrari Gala in New York City on October 17. All proceeds will be donated in support of education projects, and while no specific charitable organizations were named, it’s the car that truly counts.
