For Sale: Tupac Shakur’s Last Ride
The hip-hop legend bought this Hummer H1 a month before he was gunned down.
A custom 1996 Hummer H1 “Eliminator” that was the very last vehicle owned by Tupac Shakur will be auctioned off on May 19. RR Auction expects it to fetch over $100,000 at the Marvels of Modern Music sale which will take place online. It comes equipped with an upgraded 6.5 liter, turbo diesel V-8 engine and only 10,000 miles on the clock.
Robert Livingston, Executive VP at RR Auctions, calls it “an incredible piece of hip-hop history that evokes the invincible spirit of one of rap’s true lyrical giants.” The hardtop body features 38″ Dick Cepek off-road lights, a 360-degree spotlight, a grille guard, diamond-plate bumpers, GC Package oversized off-road wheels and tires, and an external PA system with three sirens.
Inside the Hummer features a dash trimmed in burl wood with beige leather upholstery, a 12-disc Clarion sound system, Sony GPS, a central tire inflation system and a a rear sliding glass window.
It also has privacy glass, full power options, and a 12,000-pound winch. Included with the vehicle is a license plate reading “YAKNPAK,” honoring Shakur and late rapper Yaki “Prince” Kadafi; and a promotional cassette for Tupac’s All Eyez on Me.
Research on the vehicle reveals that Shakur purchased it on August 16, 1996, a little less than a month before he was killed in a drive-by shooting while he was riding in Suge Knight’s BMW 750iL in Las Vegas. As of 2007, Shakur had sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
