The Fast & Furious 9 family gave Vin Diesel a gift that would even make the gearhead he plays on-screen swoon.

In a video posted to the Fast Family YouTube page, Diesel can be seen celebrating his 52nd birthday with the forthcoming movie’s crew on-set before director Justin Lin interrupts to deliver a short speech and cue the entrance of a classic Dodge Charger.

Just the distant sound of the pony’s roar indicates that this is no ordinary muscle car.

It’s a carbon-bodied 1970 Dodge Charger “Tantrum” built by Speedkore Performance—a particularly insane restomod with a twin-turbocharged Mercury Marine Racing 9.0-liter that produces an ungodly 1,650 horsepower under the hood. Yeah, that engine is designed for competition speedboats.

While modern hypercars with that sort of output get fancy dual-clutch transmissions and paddle shifters, Diesel’s custom ride boasts a simple six-speed manual complete with a pistol grip-shaped stick. Doesn’t really get much more badass than that.

The unveiling triggered an emotional moment for Diesel, who looked to the sky and delivered a message to late Fast & Furious star Paul Walker.

“You see this, Pablo? We hope to make you proud, Pablo.”

Walker would be. For more on the Dodge Charger Tantrum, check it out on Jay Leno’s Garage below:
