Watch This Toyota Mark X GRMN Drifting Like a Demon
This hopped-up Toyota is most definitely not your father’s Camry.
Your Toyota Camry will not drift. Sorry. But this year, at the 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon, Toyota is releasing a racing-tuned sports sedan that will happily lap a NASCAR oval completely sideways: the 2015 Toyota Mark X GRMN.
In its domestic market, Toyota sells the Mark X 350S, a compact rear-drive sports sedan with a 3.5-liter, 321-horsepower version of the V6 from the Lexus GS350 and a six-speed manual transmission. To mark the model’s success, Toyota collaborated with the Gazoo Racing Masters of Nurburgring (that name is too magnificent to abbreviate) to create an extensively tuned Mark X with inclinations towards the track. In “GRMN” spec, the Mark X has lower sports suspension, high-performance breaks, a strengthened chassis and—like the BMW M3—a carbon fiber roof to keep the center of gravity low. Aesthetically, a deep front fascia, quad exhausts and 19-inch titanium-finish wheels keep things appropriately racy. Oh, and it will drift. Really drift.
Production of the GRMN Mark X is limited to 100 models for the Japanese market exclusively, which means for now, this video is as close as most American consumers will get.
