After the Chicago Cubs recorded the final out in the 2016 World Series, securing the team’s first championship since 1908, there was one person we wanted to see: Bill Murray.
How did the Cubs funniest and most famous fan react to seeing his beloved North Siders finally win the Fall Classic? Like this:
Murray, who’s basically the 26th man on the Cubs roster, didn’t just celebrate from the stands though. He took to the field with the team and eventually made his way to the clubhouse. This is where things really got fun.
Some genius at Fox Sports gave Murray a mic and instead of having Ken Rosenthal ask silly questions to players who only wanted to get back to dumping beer on each other, the comedy legend conducted interviews for the network.
Here he is talking to and chugging champagne with centerfielder Dexter Fowler.

Later he caught up with President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein, who doused Murray in some bubbly. Murray then returned the favor.

Murray has been a mainstay during the World Series, singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at game three in Wrigley and grinning like a 10-year-old from the stands each time the team notched a victory.
He knows how much this win means to the city of Chicago and he knows how hard it was for fans to get up this morning and go about their day knowing that the Cubs had just won the World Series. That’s why he tried to cancel school in Chicago today and tomorrow. Unfortunately, the mayor didn’t list.
