Rob Gronkowski Says He Wants To ‘Scare’ Tom Brady Before Returning To Buccaneers in Viral Video
Will Gronk join Brady for another Super Bowl run with the Bucs?
Tom Brady recently announced that he’s returning to quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following a 40-day “retirement” from the NFL. But will his good friend and fellow offensive weapon Rob Gronkowski join him?
There’s a “very good chance,” Gronk said in a viral video captured from a Tampa barbershop. The superstar tight end isn’t currently under contract, and he plans on keeping it that way a bit longer to keep Brady guessing.
“It’s a very good chance. I’ll let him have a little scare. Give him a couple of months without me and then, you know. He just did it to me for a couple of months, so I’m gonna do it to him now,” Gronk joked.
Brady retired for just 40 days before announcing a return for his 23rd NFL season, writing, “These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands.”
“That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”
Assuming Gronkowski doesn’t retire, it will be his 12th NFL season, all of which have been spent with Brady. CBS Sports reports that the 32-year-old veteran caught 55 passes for 802 yards and six touchdowns in 2021, even though a rib injury limited him to playing in just 12 of 17 regular-season.
The performance earned Gronkowski an extra $1 million in bonuses, which he won with help from Brady in the Bucs’ final regular season game.
