Tom Brady may actually be leaving the New England Patriots after 20 legendary seasons, at least according to one NFL insider.

The league-rattling theory was put forth by ESPN’s Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter during an appearance on Monday Night Countdown. Shortly thereafter, the six-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback and the Pats slaughtered the New York Jets 33-0 on Monday Night Football, improving the team’s record to 7-0 for the third time in its history.

“Let’s boil this down to the basic facts once again,” Schefter said before outlining what seems to be Brady’s preparations for a big move.

“Has he put his home for sale? Yes. Has his trainer put his home for sale? Yes. Has he set up his contract to void after this season to become a free agent? Yes. So if he’s selling his home and his trainer is selling his home and he’s voiding his contract? What does that tell you? He’s setting up to move on.”

As the New York Post notes, Brady is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the current NFL season. Schefter also said that the 42-year-old QB might have plans to re-sign with the Patriots or even retire from the league.

Schefter’s prediction makes even more sense when paired with Brady’s own words. In another recent interview with former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN analyst Randy Moss, Brady said that he’s enjoying the game but that his career on the gridiron is “close to the end.”

“You know, it will come. It is getting closer,” Brady said per New England Sports Network. “We’re close to the end. It is not going to go on forever. I am enjoying it. For me, at this point, it is really about the relationships. The people who I play for, the people who I play with, that is what I am enjoying.”

Hmmm…looks like Brady’s rookie backup, fourth-round draft pick Jarrett Stidham, better be ready to fill the legendary QB’s giant cleats as early as next season.
