The ‘Swiss Army Knife’ of Jackets Has Raised More than $8 Million on Kickstarter
We want one, and so will you.
It’s being called the “Swiss Army knife” of jackets for a good reason. The BauBax Travel Jacket, which popped up on Kickstarter early this summer, has every accessory a traveler could possible need: nine utility pockets for everything from your smartphone to your iPad, a passport holder, earphone holders, and even a built-in inflatable neck pillow for those who can’t seem to get comfortable on long flights.
Sound exciting? Sure it does! That’s probably why the Chicago-based company has raked in more than $8 million on Kickstarter since the campaign launched in July, making it the most-funded piece of clothing in Kickstarter’s history.
Sure it sounds a bit hokey, like an adult version of a pocket protector for someone with a bit too much time and money on their hands. But the BauBax jacket manages to combine the supremely functional with the aesthetically pleasing in one all-purpose travel coat guaranteed to make your jetsetting easier than the poor schmucks fumbling for their shit in the TSA grope line.
Not sold on the travel coat? No problem: BauBax is offering up sweatshirts and blazers with the same features.
The BauBax travel jacket already has more than 40,000 backers on Kickstarter with an estimated delivery date somewhere in November, just in time for cold air and Thanksgiving travel. While the campaign ends soon, don’t fret: like the Pebble watch and other Kickstarter phenomena before it, this likely won’t be the last you hear of the world’s most useful jacket.
