What’s old is new again, at least in the minds of today’s menswear masters: Lauded modern Americana retailer Buck Mason just dropped a fresh set of menswear essentials with iconic prep brand J. Press, with style points extending far beyond the confines of summer.

The just-released J. Press for Buck Mason Collection puts a new spin on classic Ivy style looks, from the Oxford shirt to the blue jean and the durable chambray shirt. J. Press boasts well over a century of iconic prep style, while Buck Mason’s roots (dating back to 2013) are more current yet no less well-loved in the menswear community.

Of the collection, the Los Angeles retailer said the partnership is the “first of a multi-season collaboration together,” calling the collaboration “a three-piece foundation for a West Coast Ivy wardrobe inspired by ex-GIs and soon-to-be Hollywood stars.” Better still is the fact that the collection is crafted entirely in the United States, a rarity in any industry these days, let alone stylish menswear.

Buck Mason already draws a hefty dose of inspiration from menswear classics, be it old-school military jackets or breezy coastal men’s style essentials that practically scream summer. The new J. Press for Buck Mason offering builds off those classics, especially staple pieces like the wear-with-anything Oxford shirt, which the retailer says features the signature J. Press flap pocket and a hem that draws from 1960s styles.

A set of high-rise, tapered and crisply cut blue jeans in selvedge denim boast made-in-Los-Angeles craftsmanship, not to mention a throwback cut that also nods to the 1960s. The brand’s midweight cotton pocket tee also channels James Dean, a fitting inclusion given the partnership with J. Press: The fact that the tee is made at Buck Mason’s own knitting mills in Pennsylvania is a proper bonus for menswear aficionados.

In partnering with an icon of prep style, Buck Mason said it’s further expanding its mission to “to redefine the modern American wardrobe,” which shines through in the collection’s versatility, rugged durability and a sense of easygoing, casually cool style. Buck Mason T-shirts and denim (for example) fittingly pair well enough with one another in their own right, and a new set of fresh, fashionable selections from J. Press adds a sense of throwback cool to the Buck Mason mission.
