G-Shock’s New ‘Lunar Rainbow’ Watch Is Out of This World

The latest addition to Casio’s G-Shock family arrives with an exclusive “Lunar Rainbow” design that’s as stunning as it is sturdy.  

Officially dubbed the MTGB1000RB-2A, the head-turning timepiece commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Metal Twisted G-Shock line of luxury watches

As Highsnobiety notes, it’s based on the MTG-B1000, which was the first MT-G example with Bluetooth connectivity. The name is inspired by light-refracting rainbow ion plating on the bezel that produces a spectrum of eye-catching colors.

The otherworldly bauble has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with non-reflective coating that ensures readability in bright conditions, as well as the brand’s shock-absorbing Triple G Resist construction. 

On the tech front, the limited-edition MTG boast solar-powered charging capabilities and can be paired to the G-Shock Connected App via Bluetooth, allowing owners to keep extraordinarily accurate time from anywhere on earth.

The limited-edition MTGB1000RB-2A is on display at the Baselworld trade show in Basel, Switzerland before it goes on sale to the rest of us for $1,000 in June.
