Reebok is launching a brand new “Zig Kinetica” sneaker with UFC superstar Conor McGregor as the face of its campaign.

The Irish fighter stars in a new ad as a “Zigurine” action figure who rearranges a monster’s face, grapples with a Yeti, and walks through a wall with his signature arm sway—all while rocking the flashy new silhouette.

Teased as the athletic wear behemoth’s “biggest shoe drop of 2020,” the Zig Kinetica is designed to be worn at the gym or on the street. It utilizes the same ZigTek technology that first debuted in 2010’s Reebok ZigPulse and is based on a three-part performance system:

  • A “Floatride Fuel” foam that provides cushioning feel for everyday needs.
  • A “Zig Energy Shell”  that channels and returns kinetic energy while providing a bold aesthetic.
  • “Zig Energy Bands” that allow the outsole to expand contract for a spring-like response.

I absolutely love these, the grip, the stability. I feel the connection from the sole to the material,” said McGregor. “I’ve been around with Reebok a long time now, and each launch, the energy level is climbing. Now we are exploding.”

In addition to the new shoe, Reebok is also dropping just 100 limited-edition McGregor “Zigurine” action figures, each of which is handcrafted by legendary stop motion puppeteer Andy Gent.

McGregor, a global ambassador for Reebok and founder of Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey, has collaborated with the brand before to launch the Sole Fury trainer in 2018, and, more recently, on the poorly received walkout shirt he’ll wear before he faces Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 246 on Saturday, January 18.

The much-anticipated event will mark the Irishman’s first MMA competition since he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

Priced at $120, the Reebok Zig Kinetica hits Reebok’s website on February 21, 2020.
