Cristiano Ronaldo Announces New Line of Men’s Shirts

The CR7 underwear brand will expand its offerings later this year.

Don’t feel bad for Portuguese futbol superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. His team didn’t make it out of the group stage at the World Cup, but he’s doing just fine – and not just because the shoulder he cries on belongs to Russian supermodel (and current Maxim cover girl) Irina Shayk.

The 29-year-old’s fashion line, CR7, launched last year with a line of premium socks and underwear co-designed (and sometimes modeled) by the man himself. Now the brand is expanding into men’s shirting. Speaking at the Bread + Butter fashion exhibition in Berlin, Ronaldo announced that he has partnered with JBS Textile Group and New York-based designer Richard Chai (with whom he previously collaborated) on the collection, which will emphasize clean lines and wearability. Though the line won’t be available until late 2014, the styles pictured thus far hint at elegant, tailored looks that can make the transition from the office to the club.

Ronaldo has yet to comment on whether he appreciates the irony of a man who is famous for stripping off his uniform releasing a line of men’s shirts.
