It seems there’s seldom a time when exotic Italian automaker Ferrari isn’t having a moment, be it the enduring popularity of the classic Ferrari Testarossa or the Adam Driver-led Ferrari movie. Add two new optical collections into the mix, and consider your spring and summer eyewear rotation sorted out.
Working with EssilorLuxottica to develop the lines, the automaker looked to complement its presence in the fashion world with its Ferrari line, while the Scuderia Ferrari line of Ferrari eyewear harkens back to its sportscar and racing heritage.
The company recently worked with Ray-Ban on a Formula 1 line of sunglasses, but the two new collections go a step further and dive into the traditional optical world.
The namesake Ferrari line in particular uses materials like Japanese-made titanium, as well as stylish touches like leather inserts and acetate silhouettes.
“Synonymous with lifestyle, elegance and outstanding craftsmanship, the Ferrari line projects the brand’s aesthetic narrative beyond the confines of Formula 1,” Ferrari noted, adding that the line focuses on “the urban and metropolitan context through generous volumes and sinuous shapes in fine, high-quality materials.”
Ferrari’s prancing horse logo and iconic red, black and yellow color schemes adorn a range of frames, which run the gamut from tasteful oval-shaped glasses to super-streamlined racing-style shades made for the open road.
The “sporty, ergonomic and aerodynamic” Scuderia Ferrari line, meanwhile, draws heavily on Formula 1 silhouettes, and is meant to ” recall Ferrari’s active DNA and the adrenaline rush of car racing.”
From wrap-around styles to pleasing, eye-catching geometric builds, Ferrari notes that the Scuderia line looks to “explore a palette of saturated tones and bright colors, mixed with yellow or red details and lenses with a mirrored, iridescent effect that hint at a passion for speed and advanced performance.”
Indeed, if a passion for speed and style is of the essence (which it most certainly is), then the latest Ferrari eyewear line is worthy of an investment this season.
