Glenmorangie Is Selling $450 Wooden Sunglasses Made from Scotch Whisky Casks
These have got to be the best-smelling shades around.
Wooden sunglasses have been a thing for a while now, but delectable single malt brand Glenmorangie has just taken them to a whole new level thanks to a collaboration with London’s Finlay & Co.
The idea is brilliantly simple: make the shades out of Glenmorangie’s empty Scotch whisky casks, which have been imbued with the precious spirit for years while it aged in their cellars.
The oak wood comes from casks that are only ever used twice to age Glenmorangie Original Single Malt Scotch for 10 years, and the sunglasses pay homage to the whisky’s “perfect balance and alluring complexity.”
Designed and handcrafted in Britain from Glenmorangie’s own American white oak casks, each individually numbered pair is designed to show off the wood’s unique grain and natural finish.
“This is a wonderful collaboration between two brands with a deep connection to wood and who share a similar ethos of being unnecessarily well made,” notes Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation.
Finlay & Co.’s Glenmorangie sunglasses are priced at $450 per pair and are available at Finlay & Co.’s website. Personal engraving is also available for each customer.
And we guarantee you’ll have the best-smelling shades in town.
