The intricate clockwork of Hublot has always perplexed us, but its latest timepiece has nothing to hide.
The new Big Bang Unico Sapphire is completely see-through, so its masterful Unico chronograph is on full display. The watch’s middle case, bezel, and back have all been milled from blocks of sapphire, a notoriously backbreaking stone to work with. It’s not only a translucent beauty but also a major triumph for the Swiss watchmaker.
The sapphire also means this timepiece is as tough as nails. In fact, sapphire is a 9 on the Mohs scale, just shy of the durability of a diamond, which is the perfect 10. It’s virtually scratchproof and can withstand water pressures down to 50 meters deep.
This wristwatch has also maintained the look of the brand’s much-loved Big Bang range. See for yourself:

This isn’t the first time Hublot has dabbled with this precious gemstone. Its MP-05 LaFerrari Sapphire stunned this year’s Geneva Watch Show (SIHH), though that model came with the extortionate price of $575,000. While sapphire-encased watches will never be cheap (some can cost up to a million dollars), this model capped things at $57,900.
This is part of a 500-piece limited edition, so act fast.
