IWC Drops Two New ‘Blue Panda’ Watches
Blending contrasting dial designs with precision performance.
The best luxury timepieces on the planet often stand out subtly and stylishly, but it’s never a bad thing to shake up your wrist game with some contrast, as is the case with two new IWC Portugieser watches.
The popular collection, described by the Swiss watchmaker as “timelessly modern” and “an icon of watchmaking,” gets two new additions affectionately referred to as “blue pandas” for their striking visual contrast.
A white dial and blue sub-dials call to mind nautical shades in both the Portugieser Automatic and Portugieser Chronograph — think of it like the perfect blend of sporty style and refinement.
Blending crisp dial designs with chronograph performance is something of a specialty for IWC and its latest luxury watches, often available in covetable, limited quantities.
The Portugieser Chronograph displays an especially striking blend of precision and style, boasting a 41mm stainless steel case, a 46-hour power reserve and a classic column-wheel design chronograph movement.
It’s finished off with a blue rubber strap for style and utility that’s suitable to wear in any locale to close out summer.
The IWC Portugieser Automatic is impressive in its own right beyond just the contrasting “blue panda” design — the numerical day sub-dial and sixty-seconds sub-dial ensure you’re never running late or missing a beat, so to speak.
The automatic edition is the dressier of the two options, all thanks to the handsome blue alligator leather strap, and it boasts a slightly larger case diameter (42.3 millimeters on the dot).
IWC-produced movements power each watch, and it’s not a feat the company has undertaken lightly — the Portugieser Automatic specifically will set you back $13,100, and both timepieces are available online and at IWC boutiques.
