Land Rover & Bamford Join Forces For Rugged Defender-Inspired Watch
The Bamford LR001 features a sturdy 40mm titanium case, Swiss automatic movement, anthracite finishing and a 41-hour power reserve.
Land Rover has tapped fellow upscale British brand Bamford to create a watch that channels the Defender SUV’s ruggedly refined ethos.
The London-based luxury product specialists have tapped into the automotive world for timepiece inspiration before, namely with a version of its B347 luxury watch that incorporates rubber from Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
The new Bamford LR001 attempts to reflect the Defender’s design language, with a sturdy 40mm titanium case housing a Swiss, Sellita-sourced automatic movement featuring blued screws, anthracite finishing and a 41-hour power reserve.
A toned gray cut-away dial matches the titanium case in the daytime while emitting a subtle green hue in low-light, allowing the restrained LR001 text, Bamford’s aqua blue signature at six-o-clock, and most importantly, the time to be seen at all hours.
Four bio-based 18mm straps are available as a leather alternative. Black, light tan and dark tan options are created from corn-derived sustainable polyurethane leather, while the navy option is crafted from recycled nylon Cordoba.
Limited to just 100 examples worldwide, the Defender-inspired Bamford LR001 is available to purchase online now for £1,125 (~$1320).
