Today, even though COVID-19 has shut down this year’s Watches & Wonders show in Switzerland, Montblanc debuts their four new gorgeous 1858 model timepieces.
The future of luxury watchmaking is as uncertain as anything else in this time of coronavirus pandemic-related economic downturn, but companies like Montblanc endure because they find ways around obstacles and have a product that merits that ingenuity.
Debuting today are the new Minerva Heritage 1858 models, the Monopusher Chronograph Limited Edition (above, left), and the Automatic 24H, (right).
They’ve been made with “vintage aesthetics” according to the watchmaker, and have new dial colorways, bronze alloy case construction, comfortable Nato straps and their own unique standout features such as the single red hand function on the 24-hour 24H.
The other pair of new watches are the Split-Second Chronograph Limited Edition 100 (above left) and the Geosphere, on the right. Both are part of Montblanc’s 1858 blue product line and their cool color schemes have been inspired by Switzerland’s snowy mountains and glaciers.
Montblanc describes the 1858s as “sporty vintage timepieces inspired by the trend for reconnecting to nature and Montblanc’s heritage.”
All models are automatic and self-winding. The Geosphere in particular benefits from SuperLuminova coating on the hands and dial, and sizes range from 42mm to 44mm.
Prices vary—the Monopusher Chronograph Limited Edition is $5,600, the Automatic 24H sells for $3,030, the split-second retails for $36,000 and the Geosphere is $5,800.00 USD.
