New Balance Just Re-Released Its Most Iconic ‘Dad Sneaker’ Ever
These intentionally dorky kicks are about to be all the rage.
For years, New Balance has been valiantly fighting its reputation as the go-to sneaker brand for dudes of a certain age—aka “dad sneakers.”. But in a bizarre caprice from the fashion industry, purposefully dorky kicks are suddenly all the rage.
So what is New Balance to do with its sudden good fortune? Re-release one of its most popular sneakers, the 990.
The new and improved New Balance 990v4 “1982” is like the original grey version your old man first fell in love with in 1982, but this time it’s in suede and the navy details are a touch more subtle. Don’t worry, that thick, borderline orthopedic sole is back.
It wears its dorky dad heritage proud with an “EST. 1982” embroidery on the heel.
It has been 36 long year since anyone has been so hyped about these kicks, but their popularity has picked up in recent months after the high-fashion Balenciaga Triple S ignited the bizarre new trend.
The New Balance 990v4 “1982” will return at its original price: $100.
Look out for it beginning April 14th.
