Nike’s ‘Wheat’ Cortez Is Latest Sneaker to Get Down With the Brown

Nike wants us all to harvest the style benefits of its new “wheat” colorway.

It’s already added the golden-brownish hue to a crop of other cool kicks like the Air Max 1 and has more—the Air Jordan 1 High, 6 and 13—coming.

Now, Nike is unveiling its iconic Cortez model, that unisex classic favored by the likes of Farrah Fawcett, Bella Hadid and, perhaps most famously, Forrest Gump, in the eye-popping fall/winter colorway.

It may look totally tan—with white accents here and there—but the sneaker is really a study of contrasts. The tan suede upper and matching laces are subtly offset by a “Sail”-colored midsole and nylon tongue.

You may have to look closely, but the difference is there.

This new Nike Cortez “Wheat” is available through select Nike retailers now, but expect a wider release (along with an official price) to come soon on Nike.com.
