Persol Revamps Iconic 649 Frames Just In Time For Summer
Featuring a new all-metal design.
The best sunglasses on the market turn heads, and yet, even the classics could stand to do with a bit of eye-catching reinvention. The Persol 649 fits the bill nicely in that regard, and now boasts an all-new build in durable, sleek iron.
The Persol 649 Iron first debuted in 1957, giving the heritage brand plenty of archival inspiration to get its modern look precisely right (and even more stylish, one might say).
And in the case of this revamp, its new iron frame is accented by three never-before-seen color combinations.
Persol even called the new build a “visionary iron interpretation,” and the elegant frames arrive just in time for summer.
“The new iron execution achieves a subtle alchemy; at once rugged and resilient, fluid and
fine,” Persol noted, with a shape further accented by top-of-the-line materials like Barberini premium glass lenses.
The frames join the new Supreme 80 Arrow, another sleek reboot of a classic: The Arrow features a thicker acetate and a new look for its iconic, signature temple arrow detailing.
And as for the new color offerings for the Persol 649? Stylish wearers can select from black frames and polar blue lenses, a semi-transparent smoke grey and blue combination, or semi-transparent champagne and dark grey.
As with other handsome Persol sunglasses favored by the likes of style icons like Steven McQueen, the eyewear maker took its time with the details, noting that “every notch or carefully-placed screw speaks to the art of meticulous craftsmanship that brought them into being.”
With the summer sun beating down, the time has never been better to score a new set of frames, especially a better-than-before take on an icon, Find the Persol 649 online now for $538.
