Rolex Watches Will Cost More Than Ever in 2022

Here’s how much more a new Rolex will cost in the New Year.

If you’ve been thinking about buying a Rolex, prepare to pay more for one in 2022.

The world’s best-known luxury watch brand has quietly raised prices for their coveted timepieces–assuming you can even get ahold of a new Rolex anytime soon.

Most Rollies now cost anywhere from 3% to 10% more than they did in 2021, according to prices listed on the official Rolex website.

And while Rolexes are a famously good investment that appreciate with age, those price hikes may still sting your wallet.

The eagle-eyed watch aficionados at Gear Patrol rounded up just how much more specific models will cost than they did in December, and gave some context to the scarcity of new Rolexes.

If, for instance, you wanted a GMT Master II “Pepsi” — and you were somehow special enough to be able to get one at retail price — you would have saved $1,050 by having bought it in December…The difference in MSRP may feel slightly ironic to many since you typically can’t even buy many steel Rolex sport watches at retail, anyway.

Buyers have to get on long waiting lists (the requisite for which is typically that one has previously purchased — wait for it — other Rolexes), and the watches often trade above MSRP on the secondary market almost immediately following their release.

Buying a pre-owned Rolex is likely easier than scoring a new one, whether it’s from a reputable vintage dealer like Bob’s Watches or through J. Crew’s partnership with Analog/Shift and Mr. Porter’s pre-owned watch program.
