Tag Heuer Introduces New Formula 1 Watch To Celebrate Partnership With Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Team
The special edition timepiece’s design merges practicality and ageless style.
Tag Heuer just revealed its second-ever special edition watch to commemorate the watchmaker’s ongoing partnership with the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team.
The companies have been working together for four years and this 43mm chronograph has been crafted to reflect their shared aesthetics. It’s a sleek-looking design and was directly inspired by the new Aston Martin Red Bull Formula 1 car unveiled on February 19th in Spain.
The steel Tag Heuer is blue like the racecar with red and yellow accents. It’s got a date window at the 4 o’clock mark and the rear case is engraved with the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing logo. It’s also quartz-powered and comes on a steel bracelet.
This is a real tool watch, too–it’s shock-resistant and water-resistant to 200 meters or just over 655 feet. Tag Heuer claims it has put the timepiece through “60 quality control tests.”
Tag Heuer’s larger Formula 1 collection was first launched in 1987 and has always reflected the longtime intimate relationship between the brand and racing–one that’s been embodied by association with stars like Steve McQueen, the iconic actor who was also a passionate racer.
That’s just one reason Tags, in general, are such excellent watches–for all their glamor, they’re still tough, reliable, and eminently durable.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Special Edition 2020’s other complications include minutes and 1/10th seconds subdials, a permanent second indicator, and a central chronograph seconds hand.
There are brushed steel pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock, that Aston Martin Red Bull Racing engraving on the caseback, as well as a blue sunray brushed dial, rhodium-plated indexes, Super-LumiNova coated hour and minute hands and a yellow lacquered central hand.
You can check out the entire collection here: the MSRP for the newest member is $1,700.
