Tag Heuer’s Porsche-branded collection of Carrera watches is expanding to six pieces with this brilliant black and orange homage to sparks and fire.

Following the first-ever 911-branded Carrera watch, minted in honor of the legendary 911 Carrera coupe’s 50th anniversary, the Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing looks to a more elemental inspiration.

The vivid orange found on details such as the bezel’s Porsche logo, crown lacquer, counters, seconds hand, and strap stitching is inspired the sparks that fly off of metal components as a 911 speeds down the asphalt. More broadly, the hue celebrates fire, which Tag Heuer claims is “emblematic of speed.” Certainly in internal combustion engines, at least.

The dominant color is a contrasting black, which is found on the diamond-like carbon (DLC) 44mm case, the dial, and the bulk of the leather band. But the most intriguing details are for the wearer and not the admirer, as they are only visible only through the sapphire caseback.

Tag custom-designed its 80-hour Calibre Heuer 02 movement’s oscillating weight to resemble a Porsche steering wheel, added two more “Tag Heuer” and “Porsche” labels, and rendered the column wheel in orange. The same steering wheel-shaped weight is also visible in the red Tag Heuer Carrera x Porsche RS 2.7, which is still available to purchase for an eye-watering $23,550.

However, the you can have Tag Heuer Carrera x Porsche Orange Racing Automatic Chronograph and that racy detail for a less prohibitive $7,050 right now.
