Panerai Goes Deep With Submersible Watches Inspired By Italian Special Forces
Both dive watches boast military-grade specs and serious style.
The world’s best watches do more than just rest handsomely on a mantle. In fact, a properly designed outdoor watch should be able to withstand just about anything, which is the spirit behind two handsome, rugged new Panerai Submersible special editions.
Panerai recently dropped a watch inspired by luxury powerboats, but the latest and greatest takes inspiration from something far less leisurely: The hard-working pursuits of the Italian Special Forces, with camo color schemes to match.
The Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Edition and Submersible Forze Speciali are both impressive in their own right, with each timepiece boasting a highly durable DLC-coated titanium case in a beefy 47mm diameter design.
The Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience is limited to just 50 units and retails for a whopping $57,500, with the specs to match (try a 3-day power reserve and water resistance to 300 meters).
This extremely hard-wearing watch isn’t all that’s on offer, though: Each purchase includes an invitation to join Italian Special Forces in training exercises (good luck out there).
The equally impressive Submersible Forze Speciali is powered by Panerai’s signature P.9100/R calibre movement and is also equipped with a 72-hour power reserve for good measure.
The sleek blue and black color scheme is offset by distinctive hits of yellow, and the dial includes five-second markings and the seriously cool “Time To Target” indicator.
Both timepieces lean heavily into military inspiration — note the chronographs positioned at 3 and 9-o’clock, each designed fittingly in the shape of a target.
Each watch, needless to say, is aspirational luxury watchmaking at its finest, the kind that handsomely blends performance, style, refinement and rugged appeal.
