Menswear designer Todd Snyder has once again sought inspiration from the Timex archives for the latest release in his long-running collaboration with the affordable American watchmaker.
Building on the popularity of the Timex Q Series that resurrects retro watches from the 1970s-era horological heyday when quartz technology was king, Snyder’s new Q Blackout Timex watch has several familiar features, including a rotating bezel, battery hatch, day-date, luminant hands and domed acrylic crystal.
This throwback timepiece also boasts a tasteful touch of modernity courtesy of a minimalist black dial and matching monochromatic stainless steel band.
It’s just the latest co-branded release for Snyder, who has launched a dizzying array of products with heritage style brands including New Balance, L.L. Bean, Moscot, Converse, Champion, Sebago and Red Wing.
In 2020, Snyder even debuted his first foray into hotels with a custom-designed luxury cabin at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine.
“I’ve always loved the Q series,” Snyder said in a statement heralding his latest Timex drop. “They’re beautiful mid-century watches that date back to a time when quartz technology was changing the industry.
“And I wanted to design one that was a slightly more minimalist with a little bit of attitude, one that could work as both a dress watch and an off-duty one.”
The Timex + Todd Snyder Q Blackout features the line’s signature quartz analog movement, 38 mm case, and is water-resistant to 50 meters. It’s available here for $189.
